Fictional Books Can Teach
What are your child’s favorite books? What lessons can you teach them from those books? Fictional books can be silly, ridiculous or even realistic but most often they are enjoyed because they are entertaining. When you are reading with your child make a point to find something that can be used as a teachable moment within the story. Let the book teach him/her something that he/she can associate with every time he/she reads that book. Now he/she not only gets to enjoy the book’s story line, but the/she also gets something meaningful out of it. That’s what I call a” win-win!” In all of my books I try to keep this in mind. Read some of my books and see if this theory doesn’t hold true.
